The old standby...
Ingredients:
2 Slices Store-bought White, Wheat or Rye Bread
1 Tbsp Butter
2 Slices packaged American Cheese
Tools:
Knife
Non-stick Skillet
Spatula
Instructions:
1. Turn skillet to medium heat
2. Take 2 slices of bread together and butter the outside faces
3. Place in skillet
4. Unwrap cheese slices and place between bread
5. Flip when first hidden face turns crispy brown
6. Remove when second face is crispy brown
7. Cut into two halves and serve
Notes:
Use any bread or cheese you like, but this is yours to screw up.
Official variations sanctioned by me are listed below.
1. Grilled ham and cheese - add a slice of ham for a change;
2. Grilled muenster - the best;
3. Grilled swiss and tomato - one of my favorites; and
4. Sankaran's grill: Colby longhorn and thinly sliced red onion and whole grain in the toaster oven without butter. Heatlhy. The mild cheeses pairs with the onion and roughly toasted bread perfectly. Credit where credit is due.
