80% lean ground beef, cheap even,,,balled in the palm of your hand three balls to a pound (6ox each more or less) or 1/3 lb each. Look at the weight of the package you bought and figure it out.
Hamburger rolls of your choice.- American style, light to hold the meat, not wheat or grain. Think white bread.
Make a screamin hot lump charcoal fire in a kettle or other device and get it grey (instruction elsewhere
Meanwhile, press the balls into burgers using something like a big tomato can. Don't make em over 1/2 in wider than the roll. They should still be about 3/4 in thick.
Place on grate over flame. set 5 mins or so till the bottom begins to crisp - 3 to 5 mins - when they wont stick, then flip them and get a hard finish once again.
Move to the side and toast the roll instantly, load with burger
Serve with mustard, ketchup , tomato and lettuce
No salt, no pepper, just meat. mm.
