Print Negative Space

artist statement

The subject and setting of my print is a sky. My work was made with ink and colored pencil. I chose to create this specific artwork because I thought the positive space blotches looked like clouds so I made into a sky.

There is repetition in my print with the colorful birds I drew. My project evolved because I was going to make it into news paper article around the blotches and in the letters but I decided to make it into a sky.

The meaning of my artwork is a summer sky because it reminds me of the sky at the beach, and that relates to my life because when I was little my mom would take me to peaks island and thats what it reminds me of. The birds I drew remind me of the birds in picture books she would read me. I like my piece because it reminds me a lot of being a kid so there’s not really anything I’d want to to change about my project.
