Extended Blind Contour

Pieces

9x12 inches

I’m calling this project, “Pieces” because this drawing looks like a puzzle. The subject is a woman. I chose to create this specific work because I thought that having a woman with different colors and pieces would look cool and could have a lot of different ways to interpret it. When I was creating this I had color in mind.

For materials, I used marker and colored pencils. I used markers as a material because it would have flat color and I used colored pencils for pieces to shade with multiple colors. I used a variety of techniques and methods including: burnishing and layering. While creating this work, I paid close attention to the overall look instead of small details by coloring in sections at a time. I wanted my artwork to look abstract and I did that by using the blind contour method. To add interest to my composition, I used lots of color.

I like the way I have different ways I used color and I am proud of how I’ve never tried something like this before. However, I struggled with layering different colors. If I created another work like this I may watch a video on how to do that better.
