Happiness

9x12 inches

I’m calling this project, "Happiness" because I used colors that are warm to show happy emotion. The subject is a girl who is supposed to look happy because of the colors I chose to use. I chose to create this specific work because my sustained investigation "How can I use color to show emotion in portraits" . When I was creating this I had bright colors/ tones in mind.

For materials, I used acrylic paint. I used acrylic paint as a material because because I wanted intense and saturated colors. While creating this work, I paid close attention to my mark making by using circles as bubbly strokes. I wanted my artwork to look expressionistic and I did that by using unique strokes.

I like the way my brushstrokes look and I am proud of how the style looks. However, I struggled with conveying the correct emotion. If I created another work like this I would use more color. My work shows that I learned express emotion through art.
