artist statement

I'm calling this project "what you can't see" because this project is based off of my brother who is mentally and physically disabled but to people don't know him, he just looks like a normal baby. For this project I chose to make Will the subject because it fit the prompt well for the inclusion project.

For this piece I used sharpie, colored pencil and collage. I sort of made a collage because I wanted it to be not drawing based so it had a different look. I used the negative and positive space patterns to direct your eyes towards my message and the picture of my brother.

If I were to do this differently I'd like to do something else with the background like vines or more flower patterns. This project shows that I learned to use multiple medias on one piece and that I can convey a message through my work.
