Negative Space Leaf Drawing

The subject of my creation is leaves that I picked up outside of the high school. I made my work by going outside and getting leaves. Next I traced my leaves. After I traced my leaves I started sectioning off the space behind my leaves. I sectioned them off because I put different pattern zentangles in the different sections. After that I traced my zentangle and leaf designs with a thing permanent marker and also traced the leaves. Lastly I colored in my designs. I left the inside of my leaves blank. For materials I used graphite, thin sharpie pens and colored marker. I chose to make a zentangle because I though it would be an interesting way to fill in the negative space. I composed my leaf so I had multiple on the same stem going across the page diagonally and one 3 leaf clover in the bottom left corner. My project didn’t change at all, I had an idea in the beginning and I fallowed through. The meaning behind my artwork is the designs of nature, that’s why I did a entangle behind my leaves. I think my artwork would be stronger if I my designs were neater.
