Tree in Space
(13x20 inches)
I’m calling this project, Tree In Space because it’s of a tree house in Space. The subject is a modern tree house. I chose to create this specific work because my prompt was to make a tree house and I thought I would make it in space to make it more interesting. When I was creating this I had color and use of space in mind.
For materials, I used colored pencil and ink pen. I used colored pencil and pen as materials because I wanted rich colors and a strong outline of the house. I used a variety of techniques and methods including: burnishing and cross hatching. While creating this work, I paid close attention to the background by adding lots of color and planets. To add interest to my composition, I used all the space on my paper and didn’t leave white space.
I like the way I don’t have any unused space on the paper. However, I struggled with using the colored pencil neatly. If I created another work like this I would just do it again and ask for help with my colored pencil technique. My work shows that I learned how to think outside the box.
