Circles Part 2
9x12 inches
I’m calling this project, “Circles Part 2” because the midterm prompt was like the second circle project like the one we did at the beginning of the year. The subject is a bunch of circles that are brought together by one line woven between the different circles that is decorated with colors and patterns. I chose to create this specific work because I wanted it to be a similar version of my first project to show the techniques I’ve learned to use. When I was creating this I had pattern and clean lines in mind.
For materials, I used sharpie. I used sharpie because I wanted clean lines that are easy to use to make small designs. I used a variety of techniques and methods including: pattern making. While creating this work, I paid close attention to the cleanliness of my lines by using rulers and circle stencils. I wanted my artwork to look abstract and I did that by only using designs and nothing that is an object that you can point out. To add interest to my composition, I used a line that makes all the circles correlate to one another.
I like the way it turned out and I am proud of the fact that you can tell how much better I’ve gotten at thinking outside the box and generating more creative ideas. However, I struggled with making zentangles that were really intriguing. If I created another work like this again or had more time I would spend more time on more intricate design making. My work shows that I learned learned how to incorporate design, color and pattern.
