Still Life Observation

I’m calling this project, “hands” because this is an observational drawing of my hands. The subject is my hand over a notebook. When I was creating this I had detail and color in mind.

For materials, I used colored pencil and graphite. I used colored pencil as a material because I wanted detail and shading with color. I used a variety of techniques and methods including: cross hatching, shading. While creating this work, I paid close attention to the creases on my fingers and shading on my nails. I wanted my artwork to look realistic and I did that by paying attention to detail. To add interest to my composition, I added shading under my hand.

I like that there’s color and I am proud of the attention to detail. However, I struggled with adding a good background. If I created another work like this I may make a more interesting pose with my hand.
