Stop Violence

(9x12 inches)

I’m calling this project, Stop Violence because it looks likes someone with a bullet wound. The subject is a eyes that are crying. I chose to create this specific work because the ink looked like blood drops. When I was creating this I had the message for violence and the tone of sadness in mind.

For materials, I used ink, colored pencil and sharpie. I used colored pencil to have light blue to not take away from what I wanted to stand out. I used a variety of techniques and methods including: shading and cross hatching. While creating this work, I paid close attention to shading and showing the message I wanted to send by making tear drops and shading the eyes.

I like the way the eyes look sad and I am proud of how the message is clear. However, I struggled with making it look realistic. If I created another work like this I may make the eyes look more vibrant. My work shows that I learned how to incorporate messages into my artwork.
