Formål:
Forløbet er diakront og trækker lange linjer gennem Romerriget. Det strækker sig fra myten om Romerrigets grundlæggelse til dets kollaps i år 476 - med tråde op, hvordan romerriget har relevans i nutiden. I løbet af forløbet undersøges Romerrigets ekspansion, overgangen fra republik til kejserstyre, krise og undergang - samt religion, kultur og slaveri. Det metodiske hovedfokus er på at diskutere periodisering, årsagssammenhænge og Romerrigets aftryk på eftertiden ift. politik og kultur.

skelne mellem forskellige typer af forklaringer på samfundsmæssige forandringer og diskutere periodiseringsprincipper
reflektere over samspillet mellem fortid, nutid og fremtid samt over mennesket som historieskabt og historieskabende
anvende en metodisk-kritisk tilgang til at udvælge og analysere historisk materiale, herunder eksempler på brug af historie
opnå indsigt i, hvordan historiefaget kan medvirke til at forstå og løse problemer i nutiden
