Storage of food may occur at different times within the sequence. After a shipment of food is received, it may be processed immediately or stored for later use. Additionally, after food is prepared or cooked, it can be stored as well. Correct storage of food aims to keep it safe from physical, chemical, and microbiological contamination. There are different ways food can be stored and different methods used. Depending on the type of food, storage types may include:
Temperature-controlled storage (Cold storage, hot holding, and freezing)
Dry storage
Display storage
