Food Allergy
Food Allergy
Traditionally, an allergy involves an immune response against a foreign substance. There is also a growing theory that has emerged, linking food allergies to leaky gut. It is suggested that with a leaky gut, undigested food particles pass through the gut lining and into the bloodstream. When food particles end up in the bloodstream, the immune system views them as “foreign”. Since food particles are not meant to end up in the bloodstream, the body begins to attack these food particles, which often attach themselves to other tissue and cells. The immune system then ends up also attacking the tissues and cells upon which they attach. Food allergies can be life-threatening and affect individuals differently.
