Remember....under ideal conditions, bacteria can multiply every 20 minutes. For example, every 20 minutes, 30,000 bacteria multiply and become 60,000 and then 120,000 and so on, until reaching large enough numbers to make you sick. If the other growth requirements are present, and bacteria have what they need for a long enough period of time, pathogens in food can reach dangerously high levels, and quickly.
