Let's Review some of the tips for accepting food from a supplier, and before stocking items individually purchased:
Check packaging for holes, tears, and openings, and ensure food is completely sealed.
Check the temperature of foods that have temperature requirements, to ensure they were kept out of the danger zone while in transit. (i.e. Ensure raw eggs, meat, and milk are 4°C or lower when received, or if food is supposed to be delivered hot, 60°C or higher).
When dried and bulk foods are received, check to ensure they are clear of rocks, insects, and other possible contaminants.
If food is deemed contaminated or temperature abuse has been noted upon receipt, ensure suppliers are aware and do not accept the delivery. If you are an employee, ensure the situation is reported to management immediately.
Doing this upon each shipment will help ensure you get off to the best possible start. Once food is received and you sign off, now it's time to store it. Press "Next" to explore storage a bit further.
