Vulnerable Populations
For most people, foodborne illness may not always result in serious complications, and many will recover without getting seriously ill. Some; however, may not be so lucky. Groups at higher risk for developing life-threatening complications include:
Infants & Young children
Elderly people
People with weakened immune systems (immunocompromised)
Pregnant women
For these groups, foodborne illness can be fatal! Essentially, you never know who you are going to get, so being mindful is always the best remedy.
