As seen in the previous video, health hazards relating to food are numerous, as are the types of contamination that can occur. A health hazard is described as any situation that can potentially cause harm to human health, while contamination refers to any harmful substance that ends up in food, which can render it unsafe.
With the food industry spanning a variety of settings and involving many different players (i.e. restaurants, grocers, product manufacturing plants, retailers, and catering trucks to less obvious facilities such as daycares, schools, retirement homes and/or community centers), reducing the risk of health hazards and the possibility of food contamination increasingly becomes a collective responsibility shared by all of us.
