TAKING NOTES WITH A PURPOSE
Taking notes is a skill worth developing for a multitude of reasons (college prep, job application, training, etc.) Today you will be given the opportunity to take notes in whatever format works for you for a limited amount of time. Your objective (goal) should be to organize thecause and effect of the history covered in the assigned section. Below are some suggestions to ensure you cover the important information. Once the time is up, you will be given a quiz on your notes.
NOTE TEMPLATE – here is one suggestion of how to organize your notes
Chapter 7: The French Revolution & Napoleon
Section 5: The Congress of Vienna Convenes
· Background – what happened that would lead to the Congress of Vienna
· Key Terms – be sure you understand what the Congress of Vienna was
· Who – who was involved? Who had the most influence? Who was impacted by the decisions made?
· Main Ideas:
1. Why did the Congress happen?
2. Goals of the Congress?
3. Results of the Congress?
4. Democracy vs. Conservative Europe – what happens in Europe after the Congress?
5. Revolution in Latin America – how do the events in Europe impact Latin America?
Long-term Legacy – what were the long-term effects of the Congress?
