Use the map on pages 336-337 of your text to answer the following questions:
1. What predictions can you make about why European nations would want to acquire territory in Africa, Asia, and Australia?
2. Compare the size of the European countries with the size of the territory they acquired. What can you infer about the political organization and the military strength of the peoples in the occupied territories?
3. What nation held the most territory on all four continents?
4. Africa was divided up among how many European nations? List the nations.
5. Which country appears to dominate much of the seafaring routes? Why do you think this was?
