Students will review the themes they selected from our timeline analysis last period.
Students will be challenged to discover the 8 themes we will be working with throughout this unit by looking through Chs. 12 - 15. Students will be given 30 minutes to skim there way through the chapters and work with a group to discuss themes.
Once we share out our themes, and the 8 themes are revealed) students will be asked to dive deeper into the themes by creating a graphic organizer. Each group will be given one theme (see below) and will be asked to create a "4 corner" graphic organizer that includes: DEFINITION (both "official" and student friendly), ILLUSTRATED EXPLANATION, ANNOTATED LIST OF HISTORICAL EXAMPLES, AND AN ANALOGY. At the center of the 4 corners will be the theme. Students will then share these out.
Then, Students will be asked to read pgs. 390 - 393 and try to take notes under those themes as best they can.
