Causes of World War I

Learning Objective/Goal: To understand the causes of war (both the deep-rooted and the immediate).

• 1. Take out a piece of paper for notes, here is a suggestion for how you should structure your notes today:

     1. TITLE: Causes of WWI NOTES

     2. Part 1: Read and Question

     3. Part 2: Essential Question

     4. Lecture Notes

  2. Grab a textbook and read pages 409 - 410 about the immediate cause of war (Crisis in the Balkans). As you read, come up with a question for every paragraph. These questions should be purposeful - if you had to ask a question about the content, what would the question be?

  3. Take a look at the essential question: Was WWI inevitable? and do your best to answer the question with detailed explanation and reasoning.

  4. Lecture. Attached is the power point used to lecture. Feel free to use the power point to review your notes.
