Hello Advisory Family,
I hope this Thursday finds you well. We've started the school year off busy, but strong and I am really enjoying getting to know this group of unique and amazing individuals. In this advisory update (which I will aim to send out at least biweekly) I will be inviting you to Back to School Night, informing you about our upcoming Picture Day, updating you on what's going on in Advisory class, and give you some information on upcoming Student Activities here at NP3 High School. Please read on and reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Back to School Night
Back to School Night is a great opportunity to learn a bit more about the transition to High School and get to know your student's teachers and their expectations. I highly encourage all of you to attend if you're able. We will also have some time during the evening devoted exclusively to Advisory and I'd love to put some faces to your names. The details of the evening are below, but could you please REPLY TO THIS EMAIL WITH YOUR RSVP. Will you be attending? Are you unable to attend? Either way, please let me know so I can best prepare.

The 9th grade meeting will cover the 4x4 block schedule, grading policies and expectations, Infinite Campus, parent involvement, and extracurricular activities.
After the grade level meetings, parents will have the opportunity to meet all of their child’s teachers by going to each of their classes. If you have children in multiple grades, we will post the powerpoint presentations on our website after the event.
Picture Day
Picture day will be next Wednesday, August 14th! I am sending home picture day forms with students today. Students are typically brought to the gym to take pictures during their history or English class that day.
Advisory Updates
So far in Advisory we have reviewed the Student Handbook and spent the most of our time on attendance, harassment, electronic, and behavioral policies. If you haven't already, I highly encourage parents to read through our handbooks as well. There is a great deal of helpful information to be found there.
Yesterday students received letters from NP3 graduates offering advice for high school and advisory and today, students will be assigned a letter that they will need to fill in with details about them as individuals; their characters, their hopes and goals, their interests. We will complete these over the next two days and finish creating our Advisory Wall this week. :)
Student Activities
Tomorrow, we will have our 1st First Friday during lunch in the quad. All students are encouraged to come the quad and watch a fun game Student Government has planned. Shout out to Gabe for volunteering to participate in this game on behalf of the freshmen class! And shout out to Kaliyah for acting as such an involved and willing delegate so far!
Next Friday, 08/16 will be our Back to School Rally which will run during the last 45 minutes of the school day. More student activities will be revealed and games will be played.
Friday, 08/23 will mark our first event of the year. Student Government is still planning this event and I will share details as I have them.
Thanks for reading and I hope to meet all of you at Back to School Night,
Jen Hembree
