    1. Agenda

      1. Intro to Final Project, with emphasis on the Learning Portfolio. (10 minutes)

      2. Choose Your Groups (5 minutes)

        1. Be sure ALL students are accounted for in the class

        2. Choose your groups carefully - every individual will need to contribute at some point and you will need to work together to demonstrate on task behavior, collaboration, and depth of thinking.

        3. No less than 3 students and no more than 4 students in a group.

        4. Groups should arrange themselves around the classroom in the shape of a circle with a center area for questions.

        5. Group members will each be assigned a number (1 - 4) - this will be how we ensure all students have an opportunity to participate.

      3. Decide the top 3 questions you will contribute (5 - 8 minutes)

        1. Questions submitted should be deeper level questions (think Evaluate, Predict, Judge, Assess, Idealize, or “On Your Own” questions)

        2. Once you’ve made your decisions, the questions should be submitted to the “middle” of the classroom. Be sure questions submitted are legible and clearly worded (can the entire class understand what you are trying to ask?)

      1. Discussion Rounds

        1. Each group will take turns pulling a question from the “middle”

        2. Once a question has been pulled, all groups will have “discussion time” to prepare to contribute to the larger discussion. In essence, this will be a practice round for the larger discussion. Every group will have a chance to start the conversation and “just” answer the question. However, once the question has been answered the other groups must respond to the answer and cannot just repeat information. So, in your mini discussion time, students should practice asking follow-up questions to the answers provided by their groupmates.

    1. It will be announced at the end of discussion time which numbered member will be representing their group, so all group members should be prepared.

      1. All groups should have a chance to pull the question and start the discussion.

      2. Final Reflection: Individuals will respond thoughtfully to the handout provided.
