A University assigned student email account shall be the University’s official means of communication with all University of Utah students. The University reserves the right to send official communications to students by email with the full expectation that students will receive email and read these emails in a timely fashion. All communications regarding official University business bypass standard opt-out capabilities.
Official University Business can be defined as; admissions, orientation, enrollment (status, open, ISSS regulations, graduate regulations), advising, tuition, financial aid, and housing related communications.

To abide by university policy, all currently enrolled students within our Salesforce instance will have their UMail account designated as the default primary email. Personal email address will be available for students who are not currently enrolled or for alumni.
