OVERVIEW
Position Opportunities are used to indicate students’ application status for all jobs and on-campus interviews (OCR) posted in UCareerPath (UCP). In Salesforce, the following jargon is used:
An employer is referred to as an Organization.
A job posting or OCR is referred to as a Position and can be found in the Organization's record.
A student’s application for a job posting or OCR is referred to as an Opportunity and can be found in the Position record or the student’s Contact record.
A student’s application status is referred to as a Stage and can be found in the Opportunity.
Position Opportunities are imported from UCP into Salesforce each business day.
BCS STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES
BCS staff should update a student’s application status in Salesforce if they become aware of any changes, either from the student directly or some other source.
Staff should not create new Positions or Opportunities. If a staff member is confident that a student has applied for a UCP job posting or OCR and they are not able to see the student’s application in Salesforce, please bring this to the attention of the BCS Technical Coordinator or a member of Corporate Outreach.
VIEWING & EDITING STUDENTS' POSITION OPPORTUNITIES
Open the student’s contact record and scroll down to the Opportunities-Contact object. This is where you will view all the student’s UCP applications, sorted by their most recent application first.
Click on any of the Opportunity Names to view additional information and edit their application Stage.
To update the application Stage, double-click the current Stage (e.g. Applied) and you will see a pop-up edit window.
Select the updated Stage and click the OK button. Here are the stage definitions:
Closed Lost - Student did not receive or accept an offer from the employer.
Applied - Student applied for the position through UCP.
Offer - Student received an offer from the employer.
Offer Accepted - Student accepted an offer from the employer.
Interview - Student received an interview from the employer.
After the pop-up window closes, you must click the Save button or else your updates will be lost.
If you’d like to view additional information about the position (Job Description, UCP Job ID, Qualifications, Other Applicants, etc.), you can either scroll your mouse over the Position ID (this will only provide abbreviated details) or click on the Position ID.
