The employment object stores data about job placement for current and past students, and keeps track of current and historical employment. To enter an employment, select a contact. Once you have opened the contact record, click the New Employment button in the top right-hand corner of the contact record.
(**Note: Clicking the New Employment button will automatically create a new record, so do not click this button until you are ready to create an actual record. If you unintentionally create an unnecessary record, let Joe, Margo, or Matthew know.)
After clicking the New Employment button, you will then be given the option to create 1 of 2 record types:
Placement Survey
Employment
Placement Survey
A placement survey is used for any current students and student placements up to 3 months after graduation.
Select a choice from the 2 required dropdown menus in the screenshot below. Then select Next.
The fields that pop up after clicking Next will vary depending on what you selected in the dropdown menus in the previous window. Fill out as much information as possible, especially the required fields, which will be marked by asterisks. Once you have filled out all the information, click Save.
Employment
If it has been more than 3 months since graduation, we use an employment record to keep track of a contact's current and past employment. In other words, use an employment record for recording any employment other than placement.
Again, fill out as much information as possible, especially the required fields marked by asterisks. Once you are done, click Save.
You can view the employment record at any time by going into the Related tab of the contact record.
If you create the wrong record type, you can always change the record type by clicking the Change Record Type button in the top-right corner of the record.
