SEA is one of the newest units in the Eccles School. Their mission is to:
“Provide students with premier experiences through robust developmental and leadership opportunities.”
“Use data and assessment to consult with partners in the Eccles School to enhance and optimize student services, support, and programming.”
SEA supports student leadership, women’s initiatives, and external partnerships. They also house:
Business Tutoring Center (BTC) - A free drop-in service to assist students with undergraduate business coursework.
Business Leaders Incorporated (BLinc) - A premier leadership organization that serves as the Eccles School’s student government and works closely with the Dean’s Office.
SEA works with Bethany Crowell to pull data from the Student Data Warehouse and build Tableau dashboards. Currently, they do not utilize Salesforce much. However, they are interested in learning how it can optimize their business processes and help them share student information with Eccles School partners (e.g. let Undergraduate Advising Services and Business Career Services know which students are participating in clubs).
Establish learning outcomes for student leadership that align with the:
Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS)
University of Utah’s Exceptional Educational Experience (E3)
Eccles School’s new core curriculum
Optimize how they track BTC utilization, then monitor students’ academic performance (e.g. GPA).
Identify an event management solution for:
Red, White, & U - A University of Utah event that invites admitted students to campus to hear from academic programs, learn about student services, and get a taste of student life.
New Student Orientation - A required University of Utah event for incoming students.
Create a website that shares student engagement data and highlights trends.
Consult with Eccles School units (e.g. academic departments) as they consider data about the student experience.
