Saints Advocate

M.Y Homeshine is a long term collaboration between Saints Advocate and the Metropolitan YMCA (MYMCA), where our Advocates reach out to MYMCA’s elderly beneficiaries to listen to their needs, provide service in the form of cleaning and housekeeping assistance, and to build a sustained relationship.

Saints Advocates have been enriched by our interactions with the elderly individuals and couples we have served -- from learning about how the government celebrates the Golden Jubilee of couples who stick together (50 years!), to empathizing with people who have lost their cherished skills, professions and livelihoods to stroke. While these monthly visits are likely to be interrupted by COVID-19, the friendships forged through this Service Learning initiative continue to live on.
