Description of Project:
For SL day, our class partnered with CDC Nurture to come up with engaging activities for children at Life Student Care centre where some of the children were disadvantaged. Our aim was to provide the children with a fun National Day that they would remember. The class was split into 4 groups of 6-8 students to facilitate activities for about 70 Life Student Care children. The activities were tailored to the likings of each age group of children, as their ages ranged from 7-12 years old. First, we conducted a fun Kahoot quiz on Singapore for all 4 groups. Subsequently, the primary 1-2 children did finger-painting, primary 3-4 children made origami and primary 5-6 children had their hands painted.
Class Reflections:
As a class, we believe that our time and effort spent on SL day was fruitful as the children were very happy by the end of the 2 hour session. We are also keen on doing more of such projects in the future which allows us to bond together as a class and stimulate our creative flow of thinking to help our community and give back to the society. This project also underscored the importance of being prepared to adapt to unforeseen circumstances and unexpected changes and not to give up when faced with obstacles.
