Description of project:
Introduction to snapseed and overview of its functions. Firstly, we had our short and sweet ice breaker. We did Simon Says and Pictionary after the welcoming ceremony while welcoming the elderly into the main room. We went through most of the functions of SnapSeed. Some of the tools that we covered are: Brush, Healing, Crop, Contrast, Filters. For the remaining tools that we didn’t cover we encouraged the elderly to go through in their free time. While going through the tools, we went through the reasons as to why they would be especially useful for them to use the more commonly used tools that we covered. Different students covered some of the tools each. After the introductions of the tools, they were given the opportunity to test out the tools for themselves in the Breakout Rooms. To end off, we also shared how to export and share their masterpieces.
Class Reflections:
We had an enjoyable time interacting with the elderly during the breakout session. Although some of us may have struggled to answer their questions and may have felt a bit uncomfortable at times, however, their amiability helped us to overcome our anxieties, and made us more willing to approach the elderly.
Despite the fact that we were supposed to be educating them, the teaching process also allowed us to have a clearer picture on what people use editing tools for, and also widened our horizons and enabled us to question our ability in the SnapSeed tool.
On top of that, we also gained a lot from their wisdom and life long experience, making the learning that we received from this VIA experience to be more enriching.
