Description of project:
This project was a partnership with Singapore's Bone Marrow Donation Programme (BMDP) to raise awareness regarding bone marrow donation in Singapore. Our project was titled 'Ambassadorship' and the class was too design merchandise (to raise awareness) and distribute it to the students, family and friends. We had planned to make several hundred L-shaped folders with a hand-drawn design. However, due to the tight deadline, the manufacturer was unable to produce the files in time and thus, we had to distribute the artwork digitally. Nonetheless, it was an enlightening experience and it enabled the class to learn more about BMDP.
Class Reflections:
The importance and severity of bone marrow donation and found out that it was very difficult for a donor to be matched to a person in need of a bone marrow. Through this project, we learn how to work together and be efficient as we split the class into different sectors - manpower, design and logistics.
We sympathise with those who are in urgent need of a bone marrow and tried our best to raise awareness about how pledging to donate a bone marrow could be a great help. It is important to find a bone marrow as soon as possible because time is running on their side and some are only given 6 months to live.
