Description of Project:
For our JC1 SL Day on 8th Aug 2022, we worked on the 'Silver Homes' project in collaboration with the Central Singapore Community Development Council.
The tasks included: cleaning elderly's house by mopping the floor, cleaning the altars, cleaning the doors & cabinets, organizing the place, and clearing the expired food.
Class Reflections:
Actions that may seem small or insignificant to us mean alot to our beneficiaries.
Providing others with care and simply a listening ear is enough to make their day so we should also learn to appreciate the small things in life :”)
We learnt to take the initiative to communicate with the elderly, they are nice and caring people who deserve kindness.
We learnt to empathise with the beneficiaries, through our experience with them, we realised that it is not easy for them to live alone. Hence we should give them our support and be kind to them.
We learnt that beneficiaries have a hard time going through everyday of their routine and that by lending them a listening ear and helping them clean some areas of their houses can make their day and lives easier.
It was definitely not easy to clean the houses, but through this experience I learnt effective ways to clean properly.
