Our class collaborated with Lions Befrienders Senior Activity Centre for JC1 SL Day. Overall, our SL project was a success as the seniors all had fun and we’re having an enjoyable time during the session. They all seemed to be in good spirits. However, we did face a few challenges along the way. We had some difficult relaying information to the seniors as they were all prominently chinese-speaking. We overcame this by getting the help of our Chinese classmates to take over the emceeing. We also had some technical issues, we wanted to play a Kahoot game but our quiz did not load, and the seniors could not view the questions and answer at the same time. We acted on our feet, skipping to the next activity and substituting the Kahoot for a sing-along session, which was one of our backup activities.

The entire session was a very eye opening experience because we managed to bond well with the elderly. Initially we thought that they would be very grouchy and unwilling to see us. However, they were laughing a lot and seemed like they really enjoyed themselves. When we played the bingo with them they were very excited when they managed to win and receive the prize. Overall it was an amazing experience.
