Description of project:
We chose children (aged 4) from PCF sparkletots as our beneficiary.
The project is split into 4 main parts. The first segment was exercises for the children where there were 8 different varieties ranging from neck stretches to quad stretches.
The second segment was the storytelling where our class has prepared a pre-recorded storytelling for the children. This was rather interesting as we adopted the style of “draw my life” concept, as when the story is told, the frame by frame drawings in the video changes and the characters and background were all hand drawn, it was also narrative by our classmates!
The third segment was arts’ and craft where finger painting of characters and background from the story was used.
We also made a worksheet where the children have to count the number of items displayed on each column and write them down.
Lastly, we ended it all off with a “calm body calm mind” song which is really catchy :)
Class Reflections:
We generally felt that we could have done better in terms of having a better produced exercise video as the quality was a bit unclear as well as rehearsing our different roles before the day because we only decided who would present different segments on the day itself which was really rushed and also while the presenters were presenting, most of the class had little to do which we felt that we may have wasted certain opportunities that may have made this project better.
But overall it was a very meaningful and enriching experience as we were able to brighten up these kids’ day. They were all very participative in the activities we planned. With the PCF teacher’s help, we were able to communicate better with the kids and they could understand.
