20A04

We worked with Ascension Kindergarten for our SL Day project.

An interactive video was created to educate kindergarten students about edible plants in Singapore.

Three of such videos were made:

1. A video where we showed the students the commonly found edible plants in Singapore. (we went to the community garden in Tampines to film it.)

2. English poem video where a group of students in 20A04 teaching the children the stages of growth of a plant through a poem.

3. Chinese poem video where another group of students in 20A04 did the same thing in chinese.

I learnt on the experiences of being a Kindergarten kid during covid through my interactions with a teacher there and learning they learn best by visual and audio learning -Jeong Soo

I learnt that it is important to ensure that we meet the needs of the beneficiary, in order for our project to be successful (e.g. making sure that there are enough visual elements in the video to help the children visualise). -claire

We learnt to seek for different solutions when there is trouble. -Amaryl

We did not meet the ideal expectations of the Kindergarten's teachers at first and we overcame it by taking extra time out to work together and re-film certain parts until it was up to expectations (e.g. needing to move more obviously and making our actions "bigger"). -Claire

I learnt to accommodate to the different needs of the target audience. -Vallerie

Children can be very picky and easily distracted and there are many factors to take into account when serving them -Javier
