Description of project:
The aim of our project is to raise awareness amongst SAJC students about the Yellow Ribbon project and allow them to know more about the ex-offenders. Our project includes creating posters and an awareness video to be posted on Instagram (@Projectshineforyou).
By doing so, we can publicise our project and allow more students to be aware of this project, and might even influence them to join the Yellow Ribbon Singapore. With this project, we hope students will be more sensitive to the ex-offenders and be more empathetic towards them.
Class Reflections:
In the process of doing our research for this campaign we have learnt that it takes the community to help rehabilitate ex offenders to contribute and reintegrate into society instead of shunning them. We should all be gracious and not make them feel like they are entering a second mental prison. -Keith and Max
Through this project, we learnt that there are actually many different programmes that help integrate ex convicts back into society but people may not know about them hence i hope that they can be more aware about this and learn to be more open to accepting ex convicts and most importantly give them a second chance. -Giselle and Jeselle
The aim of our project is to raise awareness about the livelihoods of ex-convicts after serving their sentence in prison. We used social media as a platform to share their struggles through colourful and vibrant and colourful posters. We are grateful to have been part of this meaningful project to give hope to the lives of ex-convicts. We hope that through our actions, we will also inspire others to do the same and contribute to the society. -Arshad and Caleb
Through this project, we learnt that there is much more to do besides advocating for the Yellow Ribbon project and actions speak louder than words. In the future, I believe that we all would be willing to volunteer and participate in working towards a better integration of ex-offenders into society. -Jovan, Yiu Tung and Chitanya
Through this project, we learnt more about Yellow Ribbon and its initiatives. We learnt about the struggles that ex-convicts face in their daily lives, and about the discrimination they face from society and employers. We are glad to have played a part in raising awareness on this matter, and hope that you will too! - Aceley, Swarna and Cherylynn
