Description of project:
The project focused on working with PCF Sparkletots Potong Pasir to plan activities for the preschoolers along the theme of mindfulness.
Three activities were planned for the preschoolers such as glitter jar, rainbow walk and star breathing exercise. Through these activities, our aim was for the students to be more aware of their surroundings and themselves.
Class Reflections:
Reflection 1:
I feel the session was very engaging. I am very happy to see kids having a lot of fun and enjoying our activities. They were actively taking part in the activities despite it being conducted via zoom which could have made the activities less engaging and boring for the preschoolers. One thing that could have been improved on is if more time could have been given to the teachers to prepare for the various activities, the pace of giving out instructions was a bit too fast. But overall the execution and involvement was great!
Reflection 2:
It was generally a good experience for me. All the activities seem to be well-liked by the kids who have such strong enthusiasm that me and my classmates could hardly not feel joyful watching them participate. I believe that the kids also had lots of fun while gaining a deeper understanding of mindfulness. This session would be perfect if more of my classmates could directly interact with the kids.
Reflection 3:
I felt the session was good because the kids were very cooperative and willing to participate in the activities. Looking back I find the activities to be well thought of, creative and helpful in teaching about mindfulness. One thing I feel that could have been improved would be the involvement of the class. I feel that the whole class should be included in facilitating the activities and making sure that the activities are carried out well and the kids do not get injured.
Reflection 4:
The session was surprisingly entertaining considered that we're doing it over zoom instead of physically there doing the activities with the kids. Nonetheless, their participation was almost as if we were there. Although one thing that could have been improved on was the engagement of the class as only a few students were interacting with the children while the rest were observing.
