Introduction 導入
⌨️Have you been conscious of the kind of toilets? What kind of toilets come to your mind now? Generally, there are male or female toilets, and all- purpose toilets (toilets for wheelchair, toilets for everyone). We thought it was necessary to think about where and what kind of toilets there are around the university of Shizuoka (whether the environment is good) and what toilets are easy for everyone including LGBTQ people to use.
皆さんはトイレの種類について意識したことはありますか？またどんな種類のトイレが今思いつきますか？一般的には、男性用、女性用、多目的トイレ（車いす用トイレ、みんなのトイレ）が挙げられます。県大の周りにはどこにどのようなトイレがあるのか（環境は整っているのか）、そしてLGBTQを含むすべての人々が使用しやすいトイレとは何なのか考える必要があると思いました。

We think about what we can do to make the world where people around the world can live comfortably regardless of gender. Especially, in educational situation.

・We often see the toilets both women and men can use in convenience stores. (Why?)
私たちは時々コンビニで女性と男性両方が使うことが出来るトイレを見かけます。
・Is it really good to set genderless toilet? We need to know not only some good aspects but also bad aspects.
ジェンダーレストイレを設置することはほんとに良いことなのでしょうか？私たちは良い面だけでなく、マイナスの面も知る必要があります。

いくつかの学校には”みんなのトイレ”と呼ばれるジェンダーレストイレがあります。
・In North Carolina, there are all gender restrooms. In New York, it is common to have all gender restroom without any pictograms.
ノースカロライナ州には、ジェンダーレストイレがあります。ニューヨークでは、マークがないジェンダーレストイレが普通になっています。

・In school, there are male restroom and female restroom. We have to choose our sex when we go to restroom. 学校には女子トイレと男子トイレがあります。トイレに行くことで性を選択しています。
・Teachers call boys "～くん（kun)" and girls"～ちゃん（chan). 先生は男の子を「くん」で呼んで、女の子を「ちゃん」で呼んでいます。
・We have P.E class and boys and girls have it separately. 体育の授業で男子生徒と女子生徒は分かれて授業を行う。
・Their uniforms are different, and girls have to wear a skirt. Recently, my high school changed their uniforms. 制服が違って、女の子はスカートをはきます。 最近では私の出身の高校は制服を変えました。
・In general, there are many male students in science faculties and female students in liberal arts faculties. 一般的には、理系には男子が多く、文系には女子が多いです。
・There are girls' schools and boys' school in Japan. Actually, I'm from a girls high school. 日本には女子校と男子校が存在します。実際、私は女子高出身です。

In the world, there are many children who can't go to school. 世界では学校に行けない子供たちがいます。

Our fieldwork: 私たちのフィールドワーク
⌨️Our topic is the research of the toilets around Kusanagi
私たちのテーマは 草薙周辺のトイレの調査です。
⌨️We investigated at the university of Shizuoka, Kusanagi Station, elementary school, Seishin sinyou- kinko, park, Seven-eleven, Budo-no-oka, supermarket, shopping mole. We visit the public facilities and some stores and asked permission to take some photos and put in this homepage. Then we took some photos.
静岡県立大学、草薙駅、小学校、静清信用金庫、公園、セブンイレブン、ぶどうの丘、スーパー、ショッピングモールで調査しました。私たちは公共施設や店を訪れ写真やホームページへの掲載の許可をとり、写真を撮影しました。
Why
⌨️ It because we are interested in gender and education. However, these areas have many topics. At this time, we focus on toilets. All people use toilets every day, and of course schools have toilets. So, we associated toilets with gender and education.
なぜなら、私たちはジェンダーと教育に興味があるからです。しかし、これらの分野にはたくさんの話題があります。今回はトイレに焦点を当てました。全ての人がトイレを使い、もちろん学校にもトイレがあります。なので、私たちはトイレをジェンダーと教育に関連づけました。

Clark: All-purpose toilet? Isn’t it a female toilet?
Kanon: Well… That’s ok. Where is the female toilet?
Clark: Over there.
１.会話について
かのん：多目的トイレはありますか？
店員：多目的トイレですか？女子トイレじゃなくて？
かのん：えーっと、じゃあ女子トイレでいいです。女子トイレはどこですか？
店員：あちらです。
It’s a little bit strange, isn’t it?
I’d like to use an all-purpose toilet, but the clerk judged by only my looks and ignored my true feelings and requests. I haven’t noticed the feeling because I used to go to female toilet and that’s custom for me.
この会話は少しおかしくありませんか？私は多目的トイレを使いたかったのですが、店員は私の見た目だけで判断し、私の本当の気持ちや願望をスルーしました。私は女子トイレを使い、それが当たり前だったので、その気持ちに気がつきませんでした。
2.Regarding the toilets at university, there are multipurpose toilets only on the men/women side. This is a problem because this arrangement makes it difficult for everyone to use the all-purpose toilet. So, we need to plan out such as installing all-purpose toilet between the male toilet and female toilet but not installing it only men or women side.
大学のトイレに関しては、多目的トイレは男子/女子側にしかありません。これは問題です。なぜならこの配置により、全ての人が使いやすいトイレではなくなってしまいます。どちらかに一つではなく、男子トイレ・女子トイレの間に設置するなどといった工夫が必要ではないか。
3.There are some places which don't have all purpose toilets or the toilets for everyone, so we thought that each shop or facility should have at least one all-purpose toilet.
いくつかの場所には多目的トイレやみんなのトイレがありません。なので、各お店や施設には、少なくても一つ多目的トイレが必要だと思いました。
Conclusion 結論

We think that it would be better if there were at least one toilet for everyone in each place. Toilets for everyone is
それぞれの場所に最低一つ”みんなのトイレ”があるとより良いと思いました。
Through this research, we noticed that the importance of the all-purpose toilets' arrangement. It's because if there are all-purpose toilets on opposite side of their own gender, it is hard to use or enter the toilets. （Toilet for everyone is included in all-purpose toilet. ）
この調査を通して、多目的トイレの位置が重要だと気付きました。なぜなら、もし多目的トイレが自分の性別とは逆の位置にあった場合、そのトイレを使ったり、入ったりするのが難しくなるからです。みんなのトイレは多目的トイレに含まれます。）
Ideas for next semester (taking action): 次の学期へのアイデア（行動を起こす）
⌨️We came up with the idea that” we make original stickers of the toilets for everyone”. We thought that it's easier to use "toilet for everyone" than "Toilet for the weal chair". Cute and warm illustration make people to feel that they use them comfortable. (We include weal chair, man and women, patient pictures in the seal) We can solve all these problems by using it!
私たちはみんなのトイレ用のシールを作るというアイデアが浮かびました。車いすトイレよりもみんなのトイレの方が使いやすく、可愛くて暖かいイラストは気分が良くなると思います。 (車いす、女性、男性、患者の絵を載せます。）シールを使う事で上記の全ての問題の解決に繋がります。

Which SDGs this relates to, and how？ SDGとのつながり
⌨️It is related to the SDGs goals like 4. Quality of education and 5. gender equality. Also, it can be said that 10. reduced inequality and 12. responsible consumption and reproduction are connected to our project, too.
主に４．質の高い教育をみんなに・５．ジェンダー平等を実現しようなどのSDGsの目標に関係しています。また、１０.人や国の不平等をなくそう・１２．つくる責任 つかう責任にもまた結びついていることが分かります。
Why this research matters to you, to the local community, and to the global community？どうしてこの調査があなた、地元、世界を悩ませるのか
⌨️It is because everyone in the world uses toilets, and we decide our gender by going to the toilet every day. We must figure out what we can do to make the world where people around the world can live comfortably regardless of gender. As a first step, we decided to investigate our town Kusanagi.
なぜなら、世界の人々はトイレを使い、毎日トイレに行くことで性別を決めているからです。私たちは世界中の人たちが性別関係なく快適に過ごすためには何ができるか考える必要があるのです。その第一歩として、私たちのまち草薙で調査をしようと決めました。
Reflection: 振り返り
What I/we learned this semester: 今学期学んだこと
・ We learned the importance of corporation, studying so hard, investigating by ourselves and thinking a lot.
私たちは協力、勤勉、自分たち自身で調査し、そしてたくさん考えることの大切さを学びました。
・We noticed that it is important to focus on common things like toilet.
トイレのようなありふれたことに焦点を当てることが大切だと気付きました。
・Before this class, I don't have so much confident and hesitate to do what I want to do. However, through this class, classmates, and teacher, I thought that I could do whatever. I appreciate it a lot.
この授業以前は、自分がやりたいことをやる勇気があまりなく、したいことするのにためらっていました。しかし、この授業、クラスメイトそして先生を通して、私は何でもできると思いました。そのことにとても感謝しています。
・We learned that we don't have to do big thing and should start with one small thing.
大きなことをやる必要はなく、小さなことを始めるべきだと学びました。
・Thanks to SDGs diary, I could become a person who care about SDGs problems and other people.
SDGｓダイアリーのおかげで、SDGｓの問題そして他の人を気に掛けられる人になれました。
What I/we did well: よくできたこと
・There were a lot of difficulties such as prohibition of taking photos and upload some photos or shop's name. We contact with some clerks and negotiate it.
写真の撮影禁止や、写真や店名の掲載禁止などの様々な困難に立ち向かいました。店員と連絡を取って、交渉しました。
・We cooperate each other and divided our works.
お互いに協力して、仕事を分割しました。
・We always think deeply and had some questions.
深く考え、疑問を持ちました。
・We enjoyed our fieldwork so much.
フィールドワークを楽しみました。
What I/we could have done better:どうすればもっとよくできたか
・We chose a little bit too many places. →We should focus on a few places.
私たちは調査地を少し多く選んでしまいました。→いくつかの場所に焦点を当てるべきです。
・We wrote some places’ names. →We shouldn't have written the actual name of the shop or place.
いくつか場所の具体的な名前を記載してしまいました。→お店や施設の実際の名前を書くべきではありませんでした。
・We went to the elementary school without any appointment. →We need to call or visit there before the visiting day.
小学校にアポイントメントを取らずに行ってしまいました。→電話をしたり、訪れる日より前に一度そこを訪ねておく必要があります。
The connection to my/our future: 私・私たちの未来とのつながり
・ In the future, we may be persons who can use only multipurpose toilets because of injury, aging, pregnancy and so on. So, through this fieldwork, I understood the importance of multipurpose toilets.
将来、私たちは怪我や高齢化、妊娠などにより、多目的トイレしか使うことが出来ない人になりえます。なので、このフィールドワークを通して、多目的トイレの重要性を理解しました。
・It was a great opportunity to rethink about gender. In the future, in workplace, I can have a different view thanks to this field work.
ジェンダーについて考え直す良い機会になりました。将来、このフィールドワークのおかげで、職場で異なる見方を持つことが出来るかもしれません。
・Before this field work, I didn’t understand LGBTQ people’s feelings sincerely, but I think we should think about them and do good things for everyone.
このフィールドワーク以前は、LGBTQの人々の気持ちを誠実に理解できませんでした。しかし、私たちはその気持ちについて考え、みんなにとって良いことを行うべきだと思います。
・Through this field work, I thought it is important to communicate with people, especially local people. They are so nice to us and welcomed us. I’d like to be those people.
このフィールドワークを通して、人々、特に地域の人々とコミュニケーションをとることが大切だと思いました。彼/彼女らは私たちにとても良くしてくれ、歓迎してくれました。私もそういった人になりたいです。
advice for other students: 他の生徒へのアドバイス
・Just have fun and enjoy your field work. フィールドワークを楽しんでください。
・I recommend that you have a field work with some teammates. チームメイトと一緒にフィールドワークすることを勧めます。
