What did I do and learn in my fieldwork?
What was my research question?
Does Bullying Causes School Attendance Problems?
Why is this important to me?
Because there was a bullying problem in my elementary school and I believe that it is necessary for everyone to be given equal educational opportunities.
There was a boy who was bullied in elementary school, and I wanted to help him, but I regretted not having the courage to do anything about it.
What did I do?
I gathered information from people from several countries about bullying problems in their respective countries.
What data did I collect?
Bullying problem in four countries.
1 The number of bullying
2 Types of bullying
3 Attitude toward bullying
What trends did I find in the data?
・Different countries have different major types of bullying
Japanese people bully others in the same way everyone else does when bullying occurs, but in other countries, some people try to help the person when bullying occurs. Here we can see a glimpse of the Japanese national character of being very influenced by the opinions of those around them.
Many countries also have classes on bullying in schools and other opportunities to think about bullying issues.
How does my fieldwork connect to my future?
Knowing the current situation of the bullying problem and working toward equal educational opportunities will lead to a brighter future for Japan.

2 The interesting differences of bullying between Japan and Germany
In Germany, when someone is bullied, some people try to help the person
However, Japanese tend not to do that. In my opinion, this came from Japanese characteristics, which are trying to act like those around them
→I considered this to be one of the major problems with the bullying problem in Japan.
In order to reduce the bullying problem, we need to have the ability to stand up to bullies when someone is bullied, instead of joining the bully's side as well.

Reflection
What I learned this semester:
Of course, I learned about SDGs, but the biggest thing I learned is enjoying English.
I was a little uncomfortable speaking English in public, but in this class, I can enjoy it without fear and making mistakes.
What I did well:
Gradually, I have become more and more willing to share my opinions and myself with my friends and teacher.
What I could have done better:
Even though I was gradually becoming able to say things without fear of failure, there were still times when I wanted to say something but was afraid I wouldn't be able to say it properly because I was afraid of failure.
I also regret that I was so busy throughout the semester that I did not have much time for fieldwork on the SDGs.
The connection to my future:
It is very necessary and fundamental for the world to solve its problems if each one of us is to have a clear understanding of the current state of the problems we are facing and to think about solutions to them
Advice for other students:
Many students may still be suffering from bullying problems. Let's not turn our backs on this problem and join the call for a solution!
