Protect the sea, the source of life

Brainstorming
We are interested in the garbage in the sea. I like to go to the aquarium. We can see many kind of beautiful fishes. However, there are not that's great view in the sea. One of that reasons is garbage of the sea. Why the amount of garbage increases in the sea? I think that it is necessary to solve this situation.
According to a survey by the Ministry of the Environment, of the plastic garbage that flows out into the sea every year, it is estimated that about 20,000 to 60,000 tons originated from Japan.
Fieldwork
Narrow down your (SDG-related) topic(s) or problems you are interested in.
① collect garbage(Atami, Mochimune, Shimizu...)
①−2 the amount of garbage in the beach
②interview with people who use the beach, for example, angler, surfer and so on
Hypothesis or question
What do you know?
The amount of garbage varies depending on the season. It increases from summer to autumn.
How did you become interested in this?
Originally I like to go the aquarium, so I became interested in the situation of the sea.
What should you know about?
I should know the situation of the sea and think how to reduce garbage in the sea and the beach.
Question: What is the amount and type of garbage in the sea and the beach?
Hypothesis: It depends on the location, but I think a lot of garbage is falling during this season such as bottles, and handheld fireworks.
How will you collect data to answer the question?
Things. (e.g., observe and notes, photos, audio, video, collect and tally, ???, ???, ???).
Taking photos, asking angers, connecting with people who are doing activities about plastic garbage.
Locations. (home, street, train, shops, school, job, city, books, documents, nature, media, internet, SNS, ???, ???, ???)
In the sea, at school and on SNS.
Describe your process, step by step. Be specific.
We are going to go to the sea in Shizuoka and take photos of the falling garbage.
We ask people who use the beach such as anglers and surfers how you feel about the garbage in the sea.
Using the collected data, we examine trends.
And then...
Do a risk assessment. Are there any dangers involved in your data collection?
We are going to take pictures in the sea, so I have to watch out for sea waves.
Collect and record data
Analyze data
I went to the sea in Shizuoka city.
I took photos of the garbage falling in the sea.
The following is an example of what I picked up.
Cans, plastic bottles, caps, bottles, bags, and paper waste.
The photos I took are posted in this account.

Answer your question or hypothesis using your data. Present your answer clearly. Summarize and highlight important aspects. Why are your findings interesting?
Depending on the locations, the amount of garbage was not very large in this place. However, the types of garbage that had fallen were almost as expected.
Reflect. Do an evaluation of your process and data. (what problems did you realize from your data/analysis? What could/should you do better next time?)
Even though it is near the sea, garbage is usually found in places where people can walk. In other words, even if people see the garbage, they just pass by.
Connect. How does this fieldwork connect to you and your future?
It connects to the maintenance of the beautiful scenery of the world.
10. Analyze data. What does your data show? What are the trends and outliers, main aspects and minor interesting details in the data?
Not a little there is garbage in the sea, and the description of number 8, there are people who feel that "it is natural that garbage is in the sea."
11.Answer your question or hypothesis using your data. Present your answer clearly. Summarize and highlight important aspects. Why are your findings interesting?
Since it's summer, there was a lot of drink-related garbage such as cans and plastic bottle caps.
12.Reflect. Do an evaluation of your process and data. (what problems did you realize from your data/analysis? What could/should you do better next time?)
Same as number 8.
13.Connect. How does this fieldwork connect to you and your future?
Same as number 9.
Short summary
⌨️ Currently, garbage of the sea is a big problem in the world. What is the current situation in Japan? We will actually visit and investigate.
Which SDGs this relates to, and how
⌨️"The sea" is the 14th goal of the SDGs. According to the SDGs, "Protect the sea and its resources for a sustainable society." and "Use the sea and its resources in a sustainable way." is the point. The sea is the source of all life.

Why this research matters to you, to the local community, and to the global community
⌨️The sea is essential in our lives. The sea, which occupies 70% of the area of the earth, has a deep relationship with humans. We receive many blessing such as food and water necessary for living. Of course, that is not only Japan but also all over the world. But don't look away from the fact that the sea is in serious trouble by humans.
RESEARCH REPORT
Introduction
⌨️Have you ever researched the garbage that had fallen into the sea? If you go to the sea and there is some garbage that had fallen, most of the time you will pass by.
I think people feel that it is normal that garbage is in the sea. I feel that such misunderstandings are increasing the amount of garbage.
I will focus on the garbage of the sea, investigate about the garbage that is falling there. Then I will pick up the garbage and clean there as much as possible.

Conclusion
⌨️Since it's summer, there was a lot of drink-related garbage such as cans and plastic bottle caps. There was less garbage than I had imagined.
It's because I haven't been to the sea so much lately, so I didn't know if the sea in Japan was beautiful. While researching various things about garbage in the sea, I misunderstood that there is a lot of garbage in the sea in Japan as well.
Cleaning and maintaining the sea is the most important thing for us.
