Go to Google Analytics
Click on the gear to enter Admin
Create an account - an account is for a collection of similar websites. For example, you can create an account called courses. Each course will be a "property" within the account
Enter your Website Name as a property
Enter your Website URL
Choose https:// as the prefix
Enter your custom URL if you have one and if not the sites.google.com published URL without a page URL (e.g. do not include /home on the end)
Copy the Tracking ID (not the code) that's in large bold typ and begins with UA- followed by numbers
Use the Settings (looks like a cog/gear) near the Publish button
Choose the Analytics option
In the Google Analytics tracking ID box past your Tracking ID you copied from Google Analytics
Make sure you Enable analytics is active (the slider is blue if it is)
Close the Settings dialogue box.
Use the Publish button to make the changes live.
