Historic Photos of
Altadena
The following scanned from postcards and photos collected by my mother, Elizabeth Herr, as well as photos from the Altadeana Historic Society, of which she served as president. To view and download, open this folder of Historic Photos of Altadena. I have also included photos from my alma matters: Altadena Elementary, Eliot Junior High, John Muir High, as well as photos acquired from a friend who attended Noyes Elementary.
I am an avid hiker, backpacker and mountain climber, and attribute my interest in these activities in part to growing up in Altadena, at the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains. I have a particular interest in the history of the Mount Lowe Railway as well as the Mount Wilson Observatory, and all of the canyons and mountains north of Altadena.
