Matthew 7:9-12
The Golden Rule
9 "Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! 12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.
Jesus tells us that we often give good gifts to children...If we give good gifts to others , and we know that we are sinners, God will give us much more to those who ask...God blesses us and many times we overlook it, or forget about His good gifts...
Jesus also teaches His disciples the Golden Rule...He doesn't call it the Golden Rule, but it would later be labeled that...The Old Testament or very early Bible, was divided into three sections... The Law, the Prophets, and the Writings were the early divisions or sections of the Bible...In verse twelve He states "do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets...Jesus says this sums up a lot of our Bible...
Let this be repeated, the law which is the first five chapters and the prophets wrote wrote many of the other books of the Old Testament are summed up in "Do to others what you would have them do to you"...How important in our lives is this?...
