Matthew 6:25-34
Do Not Worry
25 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
28 "And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Luke 22:7-23
7 Then came the day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed. 8 Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover.”
9 “Where do you want us to prepare for it?” they asked.
10 He replied, “As you enter the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him to the house that he enters, 11 and say to the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’ 12 He will show you a large room upstairs, all furnished. Make preparations there.”
13 They left and found things just as Jesus had told them. So they prepared the Passover.
14 When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles reclined at the table. 15 And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. 16 For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of God.”
17 After taking the cup, he gave thanks and said, “Take this and divide it among you. 18 For I tell you I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”
19 And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”
20 In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you. 21 But the hand of him who is going to betray me is with mine on the table. 22 The Son of Man will go as it has been decreed. But woe to that man who betrays him!” 23 They began to question among themselves which of them it might be who would do this.
Luke 6:31
Treat Others as You Want to be Treated
31 Do to others as you would have them do to you.
Jesus changed the world...He did this by changing people's lives...He changed one person at a time...And He did this changing one day at a time...And He did it by His daily teachings and how He treated and impacted others each and everyday that He lived...
Jesus teaches us not to worry, because God is in control...If we do God's will, we will receive our daily bread and other things as well...But it is good that we first seek His kingdom and His righteousness, and our food and our clothes and other things will be given to us as well...Therefore, we should not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself...Each day has enough trouble of its own...Jesus is teaching us to live in the present moment, and each moment...And when we think about it, the present moment is the only moment we have, in which, we can live in...We cannot live in yesterday's moment, or jump to the future and live in that time span...We can only live today and in each and every present moment...
And how we live each day in each moment is important...And it is important to Him...
At His Last Supper, Jesus tells us to remember Him today, when we drink at our meals, and when we eat our daily meals...But He is not telling us to go back in the past to live...No He wants us to remember everyday to live like and how He lived...To do the things He would do on this very day and in this moment if He were here with us...He is telling us that mercy, love, and forgiveness must be a part of our lives today as we live...What we do today and how we treat others today can change lives and our world as we know it...Because He lives, He wants us to remember these things each day...When we eat, and drink everyday, we are to remember Jesus...
