Matthew 6:9-15
The LORD's Prayer
9 “This, then, is how you should pray:
“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.’
14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
Prayer is about God's Will getting done...Jesus told His Disciples this when He said, "This, then is how you should pray."..."Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven...Jesus gave this prayer to His Disciples...And some call this the Disciple's Prayer...
When we pray, we are praying for hope...That hope is that the will of God is not only being done in the Kingdom of God, but also that God's Will is being done on earth as well...When we pray we are praying that this earthly world can be better and get better...When we pray as the LORD tells us, we pray to our Father in heaven and that His Will will get done on earth, just as His Will gets done in Heavenly Kingdom...Jesus said it this way, “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven."...So Jesus saw God's will getting done on earth in this prayer...
Followers of Jesus believe that there is Another World, and that that world is much better than this earthly world, and that is the reason we pray...We pray to the One who ascended to Another World and currently lives there...We are praying that in His Kingdom, that that is the true way things are to be...We pray because we know of the suffering, the illness, the pain, and the wickedness of this world...We want that those things to go away...And we hope by our prayers that earth can be better and get better...We pray that earth can be like His Kingdom...That God's Will can get done in both places...
We know that there was a time when Jesus came to this earth, and He taught us that the earth and all the people of earth could live together and love each one together...So when we pray, we are praying for this hope and a defiance and an opposition against this world, in hopes of those things in Kingdom of God...We are praying in hope of Another World that is righteous and just...We pray that there is a World that is free from evil and all the pains and sufferings as we currently know them...We are praying for a world where He will wipe away all of our tears...We are praying for God's Will to get done, not only is His Kingdom, but where we live also...
