Matthew 7:13-14
The Narrow and Wide Gates
13 "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
Jesus lived His teachings, and therefore, He lived the gospel...He walked the narrow righteous path...
When I read about the narrow and wide roads and apply it to the gospel of Jesus, it makes sense... When we read the gospel or hear it spoken do we just think about it, or do we go out and live the gospel as a way of life?...I think it is much easier to just think about the gospel than living it...If we had all who read the gospel act upon it and have it in their daily deeds, then Christianity would grow...Everyone would be forgiving, telling the Truth, and finding the Way...It is much easier to do our own thing and not think much about the gospel and how it affects not only ourselves, but others...
We know by our experiences in life that not only is the righteous road narrow, the narrow road has a small gate...So we find it just easier in life to choose a lifestyle that is easy, with a wide gate, and follow the broad road...
Author and Priest Brennan Manning put it this way, “The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today is Christians: who acknowledge Jesus with their lips, walk out the door, and deny Him by their lifestyle...That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable.”...
