Job 42:3
Understanding the Eternities
3 You asked, ‘Who is this that obscures my plans without knowledge?’
Surely I spoke of things I did not understand,
things too wonderful for me to know.
Matthew 6:20-21
Jesus on the Eternities
20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Jesus teaches us about the eternities...The problem is the eternities are mysterious, and confusing, and hard to understand...Job who was suffering at the hands of the evil one, in the end understands that he doesn't understand...It is what I like to say, we don't know what we don't know...He may even come to realize that understanding is not the same things as his faith...Though when we suffer, as Job has, our faith and the understanding of things get tested...
But Jesus came and healed many...Jesus came and talked about God...No one one earth, has ever known more about God than Jesus...Jesus came and was very wise...Someone who helps others, and knows the wisdom of God, and is very wise would not be a liar...He would be a very good Man, and one we would want to emulate...Jesus proved that He was divine with His miracles...He did His miracles in such away, that the people watching still had the free choice to believe that they were miracles, or He was just a Good Doctor or a Great Magician...For one reason or another God leaves us room always to believe, but also to doubt...But no One ever talked about God, like Jesus did...He even discussed His relationship with His Father and Himself...Jesus was with God from the beginning...He and His Father are One...When we have seen the Father, we will have seen Him...Trust is God, but trust also in Him...The only way to the Father is through the Son...Jesus even told the Pharisees that His disciples did not have to fast while He was on the earth...They could wait and fast after He died...Who talks like this?...These Jesus statements about God, show us He is divine...But some people who heard them and were around and listened to Jesus, still did not believe...Even those who knew a lot about Scripture, like many in the Sanhedrin, the Pharisees, and the Teachers of the Law did not believe who He said He was (or at least, they did not treat Him, as the Son of Blessed One)...
These things are hard (for us) to understand...It is hard to picture and explain eternity and the infinite...Well, God is both eternal and infinite...The attributes of our LORD are impossible to understand...He is so complex and infinite...Some great things are beyond and too wonderful for us to understand...The best things, the eternities, are the least understood...It proves that the greatest things in all of life are things that we do not even understand...There are things so great, that only we can imagine how great they are...And then our imaginations will not even imagine the greatness of the Infinite One...
Faith helps...Faith takes us beyond our own understanding...Faith helps us understand Jesus, just a little better...Faith gives us hope about the eternities...
