Matthew 6:25-34
Do Not Worry
25"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
28"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Jesus teaches us not to worry...Each day has enough trouble of its own...He tells us to look around and see the birds...The birds are provided food and shelter...The lilies and flowers flourish beautiful with God providing for them... Maybe we doubt or do not think about God being the provider He is...We certainly see nature, the birds and flowers being taken care of...Don't you think He will also, take care of you???...He created all things, He will not let now just forget them...
Much, if not all of worry is internalizing something that might happen...Worry is a negative thing and having negative thoughts, and Jesus says do not worry...Worry can also be repressed, which also causes us health problems not only now but in the future...Jesus talks about us letting go of our worries because God does create, control, and provide for the nature of all things...
Anxiety will not add a single hour to one's life...Every day has its own set of issues, so focus on today...If we pull back and can look at our worries, we can sometimes realize that they are not adding to our lives, but taking away things we want and would like to do...Worrying does bring on some stress...
In those times, when we are constantly internalizing and worrying, we need to pray to Jesus that we need His help to focus on other positive things, like Him and the Bible...We are just a function of our thoughts...We need to be on guard to thoughts that are long term and focused internally...Express those worries and repressed emotions to the Father and Son...Has all your worry and worries ever helped you (with anything)???...
Talk to Jesus about your worries...Sometimes writing to Him can help...In fact, writing about your daily worries (at the end of the day, or anytime for that matter), is good mental heath...It may help release those worries to Him...He will listen...He was resurrected by the Father and is alive...
Faith can help worry...Faith is not about praying for something material or other things and receiving them or wanting to receive them...Faith is being a servant of God and following His will, knowing in the end, He has our best interests in His heart...A loving Father wants to help...
Let our daily prayers focus on today and not worry about ourselves...Daily prayers to our Father, will prepare us for today...We are happiest, when we turn our worries over to our Father, and trust is His will...
Jesus gives us an invitation to let our worries go and to rest in the arms of our Father...Trust in the LORD...
