Listening to Jesus
38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”
41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

Praying to God
6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

God's Word is a Lamp for our Feet
105 Your word is a lamp for my feet,
a light on my path.
The more time we spend with God the more we know about Him, and the better person we become...So knowing God is important...
The only way to get to know someone is to spend time with them...And just as we must spend time with people to know them, we must spend time with God to get to know Him...Reading the Bible helps us to learn about Him...The Bible is His Word...And reading God's Word and listening to Him helps grow one's faith...So reading and studying Scripture helps us to get to know God better...As one reads these verses we can see we are to spend time in God's word, and spend time with Him...Jesus told Martha that it is a good thing to sit at His feet and to listen to what He has to say...
Jesus said different things about being with God...He tells us to first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and other things then will be added to you...Jesus said when we pray, we should go into our room and shut the door and pray to our Father who is in secret...Spend some time alone with Him...And our Father who sees us praying in secret will reward us...Jesus often went to solitary places to pray...So let us be quiet and get quiet when we pray...Find a place of solitude to pray...
Our faith in God and in Jesus comes from hearing the God's Word...And God's Word is a lamp unto our feet and a Light to our path as we journey through life...
